Tioga Down Casino located in New York, gave government officials a prime example of how gambling can help our much needed struggling economy by donating millions of dollars in casino revenue to the community. Having only been open for approximately 3 years, Tioga Down has donated more than $58 million with a good portion of those funds being appointed to education. "We want to see future generations do as well or better than we have," said Pete Savage, President of Tioga Downs, "so contributions to education is a win, win for everybody."
For years, government officials have tried to bring to light the positive results that could come from legalizing gambling in states, but time and time again we have seen these attempts fail. Our down spiraling economy has effected each and every American in some way or another and we are seeing very little effective plans being put into place. Despite what your personal opinion on gambling may be, you would think that such an effective donation from a casino would steer people into considering the positives that could come from legalizing gambling, but yet we still see those against the idea in constant effort to fight expansion.
With several plans of development for new casinos, including two casino in Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts now beginning to discus plans of future casino development, maybe the government can acknowledge the industry that so many strongly oppose, is in fact making one of the biggest impacts on improving our struggling economy. Every fight to Capital Hill in attempt to introduce new bills which will legalize gambling, is one step closer in the for a better economy and stronger America.
