There was a news announcement from the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group (MMGG) that they have reacquired the domain name BoDog.com from Scott Lewis of 1st Technology. Lewis had acquired the BoDog domain name through a court order when the then owner of BoDog, Calvin Ayre, failed to defend a patents suit.
Since then the MMGG had purchased the American BoDog operations and has been running them under the domain name Bodoglife.com. It had been the fervent desire of Alwyn Morris, head of the MMGG, to get possession of BoDog’s original domain name. After settling with Lewis Morris said, “Gaining ownership of the BoDog.com domain was a moment of immense pride for me, it felt akin to taking ownership of a piece of BoDog’s history. As the exclusive licensee of the BoDog brand for online gaming in the United States, we are overjoyed to not only be a part of the return of one of the industry’s most prestigious and recognizable domains, but to also be the driving force behind the brands operation in that market. BoDog.com is back and here to stay!” The terms of the settlement are not known.
Now players logging on to www.Bodog.com will no longer be diverted to www.BoDoglife.com. The MMGG has also tied up an agreement with BoDog, Antigua, which is the organization that owns the BoDog brand and has licensed it to various online gaming operators like the MMGG. This agreement will benefit all the licensees of the BoDog brand because now players logging on to www.BoDog.com will be diverted to the licensee appropriate for their jurisdiction.
