Western Maine Officals Endorse Casino Plan

Casino News - November 9th, 2009 - Written by Glen

Officials in Oxford have, by a 5-0 vote, endorsed a proposal to erect and establish a casino and resort in Western Maine. For many months Black Bear Entertainment has been suggesting the idea, and progress is finally being made.

Last year, Maine voters had rejected the proposal for a casino in Oxford, the proposed location for Black Bear Entertainment's plan. Other municipalities around Maine had also rejected casino gaming through polls, leaving the state with not but USA Online Casinos for their gambling choices.

Black Bear is already gathering signatures for the November ballots, informing voters of the positive influence these casinos could have. Job creation is amongst the top reasons for expanding casino gambling, as is additional tax revenue with which Maine can improve services around the state.

While there is still time for the issue to be shot down, many casino enthusiasts are hopeful for the inclusion of new gaming choices. Rather than traveling to neighboring states who have casinos, Maine stands to gain millions in revenue, as with any state legalizing casino gaming, should voters pass the bill. With an ailing economy, many states have had to turn to casino gaming to generate extra jobs and taxes, as well as new forms of entertainment for weary citizens.
