Casino News - September 17th, 2009 - Written by Glen
While most casinos around the nation have slipped in revenues, Kansas City has managed to implant a firm footing on the ladder that is casino revenue. August showed a net revenue of $61 million dollars for the casinos in Kansas City.
Las Vegas and Atlantic City see record lows, usually drops in the double digits, but Missouri's own Kansas City has remained stable amidst troubled times. Even state wide lotteries are seeing drooping sales in this financial atmosphere. The year has proven solid for Missouri, showing a 5% increase in revenues.
Saint Louis is another city within Missouri that has shown stable or positive revenues. St. Louis added 0.2% to the state's total casino based revenues. Though they only keep local traffic consistently, these small casinos are thriving whilst the major brands in America slip.
Though the economic downturn is beginning to boomerang back to positive values, the damage has been done. Some casinos have filed bankruptcy, and others are simply unable to make their debts. Expansion has been an issue, though some major projects have even been put on the back burner until the money has returned. Partnerships with third parties are even occurring with startling regularity, with partnerships such as that of MGM and Macau becoming a staple in the diet of the money starved casinos in America.
While the United States has seen casino's in finaicial problems, Macau casinos have managed to stay afloat, despite recent health issues with Macau's gambling kingpin.
