Minnesota Representative Pat Garofalo is appalled at the idea that the Minnesota Department of Public safety has decided to bypass the legislature and attempt to enact a decision on their own. Garofalo, who does not necessarily support online gambling, does not think this should happen. Garofalo has stated that "the Department of Public Safety has to have better things to do than go after some college kid... or some guy... spending a couple hours playing online poker." That having been said, he fully intends on creating legislature that would ban the would be web site blockers at the Department of Public Safety from getting bans enforced by Internet providers operating in the private sector.
Garofalo himself said that this is the sort of thing they American attempts to stop from going on. China, he claims, is where websites get blocked for having content their government doesn't approve of, not America. Despite Garofalo's future attempts at creating the aforementioned legislation, US Representative Barney Frank may have a solution to the problem at the root. Frank intends on unveiling a new legislature to overturn the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which currently disallows banks from processing transactions that concern online gambling. This new legislation is to be unveiled today, May 6th. If this goes over as it should, the UIGEA should no longer be a cause for concern. All bets will be on, and the transfer of funds will be even easier.
