NFL News - November 10th, 2009 - Written by Scott
A heated NFC Division matchup will take place on Sunday as the Green Bay Packers host the Dallas Cowboys. The Packers are looking to redeem themselves after last Sunday's 38-28 loss to then-win less Tampa Bay. They have now lost two in a row and the loss to the Bucs sent them further back in the NFC West behind Minnesota. Dallas is riding a four-game winning streak after beating Philadelphia 20-16. The win by the Cowboys gave them sole possession of first place in the NFC East. Both teams have very good offenses, so a standout defensive performance by either team could be the determining factor on Sunday.
Dallas is thriving on their offense which is averaging 27 points and 404 total yards per game. Quarterback Tony Romo has put up strong performances in his past few games and has thrown for 2,215 yards and 13 touchdowns. Wide Receiver Miles Austin has come to life also lately and now is their leader at receiver with 612 yards and 7 touchdowns. Their running attack has been equally impressive and the Cowboys are getting 138 yards per game on the ground. Marion Barber has emerged in their group of backs and has 447 yards and 4 touchdowns. Tashard Choice and Felix Jones have also produced and they have combined for 547 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Dallas' defense has played consistent football this season as well. They are only giving up 19 points and 336 yards per game. The Cowboys will need to continue their good rushing defense against Green Bay's strong running attack.
Green Bay's offense has been explosive and they are averaging in the top 10 in all offensive categories. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers had his worst outing last week and will need to regroup after his three picks. He had only 2 in 7 games before the meltdown against the Bucs. Rodgers has thrown for 2,255 yards on the year with 16 touchdowns. Donald Driver leads their group of receivers with 613 yards and 4 touchdowns. The Packers are getting great results with their running game and are led by Ryan Grant who has rushed for 621 yards and 4 touchdowns.
The Packers defense has been strong all season and is only giving up 21 points per game. They bring in the 8th best passing defense which is allowing just 185 yards per game. They will be tested in stopping the run and will need to show the kind of effort they have all season. They are only giving up 97 yards per game.
Dallas will be favored by 2 1/2 against Green Bay according to BetUS sportsbook. The over/under is set at 47 1/2. If you are planning on betting on any of the games be sure to check out our page on the NFL Week 10 Betting Odds to get all the information you need.
