NFL News - November 24th, 2009 - Written by John
Chris Johnson' prophecy is beginning to look more-and-more possible with each passing day, but will face a major hurdle this weekend when the Tennessee Titans host the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
Since replacing Kerry Collins with Vince Young at quarterback, Johnson apparently felt reborn, and asserted that the Titans could end up winning 10-straight to make the playoffs. They have won four-in-a-row, including a dramatic win over the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football.
Looking at the Week 12 NFL Betting Odds, sportsbooks like DSI Sportsbook has Tennessee favored over the Arizona Cardinals by three, with a total of 46 1/2.
The Tenneseee Titans have won 10 of it's last 14 games at home, and is 4-1 ATS in the last five games over all according to experts' Weekly NFL Betting Trends, but Arizona poses a real threat to halt the streak, winning six of their last seven and covering the spread in 11 of the last 15.
They won convincingly against St. Louis last week in a game that Kurt Warner suffered a head injury, mostly because of the improved running game. The Cardinals were once the worst rushing team in the NFL, with less than 80 yards per game, but have risen slightly out of the cellar to get to the 27th position.
Tim Hightower rushed for 110 yards against the Rams, reaching the century mark for the first time this season, and has five touchdowns overall.
But those numbers are microscopic in comparison to Johnson's. Tennessee is the top-ranked rushing team with an average of 5.3 yards per attempt, and Johnson has a league-long 91-touchdown under his belt. The third-year back is alone at the top of the leaderboard with a whopping 1,242 yards, and has five-straight 120-yard games.
The teams have only played each other once this decade, a 20-17 home win by Arizona.
