The Indianapolis Colts will look to remain undefeated on Sunday as they host the Seattle Seahawks in what should be a great NFC-AFC matchup. The Seahawks, who lost a heart breaker last week to Chicago 25-19, will look to rebound this week. They could have tied the game, but two missed field goals sealed their fate. The Colt's routed the Arizona Cardinals Sunday night 31-10 as quarterback Peyton Manning had another stellar game.
Manning has been once again very consistent, despite losing Anthony Gonzalez in Week 1. He has 983 yards passing and 7 touchdowns in just three games. Wide receiver Reggie Wayne has turned into the main target for Manning due to the departure of Marvin Harrison. Through three games, he has 20 catches for 325 yards to the lead the Colts in receiving. Dallas Clark has been solid as well and has 284 yards and 2 touchdowns. After failing to stop the run against Miami two weeks ago, the Colts' defense looked as strong as ever against Arizona. They sacked Cardinal quarterback Kurt Warner 4 times and had 12 hurries. The Seahawks offense does not seem to be as strong as the Cardinals, so it will be interesting to see which defense shows up for the this Sunday's game, as they will be without starting defensive end Dwight Freeney due to a right quadriceps injury.
The Seahawks are coming into their came with the Colts with the status of their starting quarterback not known. If Matt Hasselbeck can not go, then Seneca Wallace will get the call. Hasselbeck is questionable due to his rib injury and missed last week's game against Chicago. Newly acquired wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh has yet to make a big impact on the Seahawks offensive production. Through three games, he has only 145 yards receiving and has not reached the end zone yet this year. Despite the good production from receiver Nate Burleson (229 yards receiving and 1 touchdown), they will need to get Houshmandzadeh involved early against the Colts. Defensively, they will need to keep Manning off the field as much as possible. If they get into a scoring contest with the Colts, they are not likely to come out on top.
The Seahawks could realistically be 2-1 this year, had place kicker Olindo Mare not missed two crucial field goals last week against the Bears. He was in the hot seat with head coach Jim Mora early this week, but is expected to keep his job this weekend against Indianapolis.
According to Betus Sportsbook, the Indianapolis Colts will be favored by 10 1/2 points at home over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. The over/under for this matchup is set at 44.
