Owens Back In Bills' Lineup, Others Active, Too

NFL News - November 15th, 2009 - Written by Jimmy

The Buffalo Bills will get Terrell Owens back in the lineup today when they face the --- worst passing defense in the league. Owens was activated after sitting out two weeks with an injury to his hip. The wideout had also missed several practices due to the ailment and was listed as questionable. The injury, and lack of production, has made him a quick target for reporters and fans looking for a scapegoat during a rocky season in Buffalo.

Safety Donte Whitner has also been activated after an ankle injury.

They are part of a large group of activees this week, after a wave of deactivations last week. Brian Westbrook will be back with the Eagles after sitting out two weeks with a concussion. He was knocked out of the Monday Night Football game against the Washington Redskins whe he was struck in the helmet by London Fletcher's knee. LeSean McCoy will likely still get the majority of the carries, but Westbrook offers a flex option and a good pass-catcher out of the backfield.

DeAngelo Williams was also a late activation in the Carolina Panthers backfield. He was listed as questionable and wasn't completely sure he'd be able to play against the Atlanta Falcons. But he felt better this morning and will be back in a lineup that could have been without he or Jonathan Stewart. The Panthers have one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL, and the Falcons have surrendered 123.5 yards a game. Stewart is questionable, and if he's not ready to go, Terrell Sutton and Mike Goodsen will likely get a fair share of carries.

For the Redskins, the bad news keeps coming. Daniel Snyder recently lifted the ban on fan signs in FedEx Field, but it comes at a time when a tattered roster will be without it's biggest star. Clinton Portis will be held out of the game after suffering a concussion early last week. Ladell Betts will be the starter despite suffering a sprained ankle in practice. Rock Cartwright will split carries with him and Quinton Ganther will have a few, too.

As the Detroit Lions try to improve it's relationship between quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Calvin Johnson, it's odds got a little bit better this week. The Minnesota Vikings will be without top cornerback Antoine Winfield. Bernard Berrian is active for the second-straight weeks for the Vikings.
