NFL News - October 3rd, 2009 - Written by John
The New York Giants have been banged up this season, losing several key members of their defense. Safety Kenny Phillips learned that a freak knee condition will take him out for the rest of the season -- if not his career -- and corner Aaron Ross has been hampered by a hamstring injury.
Friday it was announced that Ross would miss his fourth straight game when his injury didn't improve at practice Thursday.
"It just didn't feel right," said Ross. "I tried to go out there, but the leg is still not ready yet, and I have to be smart."
In his wake, Terrell Thomas has done a stand-up job along side Corey Webster. The sophomore out of USC had his second-career interception last week against the Buccaneers and has 11 tackles this year.
Justin Tuck, who injured his shoulder after being tripped by Cowboys' Flozell Adams in Week Two, reportedly practiced in full on Thursday and will be good to go.
Head coach Tom Coughlin also mentioned wideout Hakeem Nicks is improving, saying "did pretty much everything. There was no limitation on him."
