McNair Murder Nearly Centerpiece At Halloween Park

NFL News - September 24th, 2009 - Written by John

steve mcnairEvery year is a battle in itself to one-up the previous Halloween. But an Ohio city may have gone a little too far. This year, as part of their Halloween Haunt show, King's Island decided it would be deliciously frightful to add a scene of murdered NFL quarterback Steve McNair, and his assailant Sahel Kazemi, to their theme park. The scene, of which pictures were circulated a few days, shows two skeletons laying on the couch in the presumed position they were in upon death. McNair is laying back on a couch, wearing an impromtu no. 9 jersey and Titans helmet, with Kazemi sprawled across his lap.

Radio boards have been lit up ever since, expressing rage about the incident. FanHouse is reporting that radio shows are supporting the effort to have the expose removed (which it has by now). They report George Plaster, host of a popular show called 104.5 The Zone, preached to his listeners, saying, "I don't think the city is going to take it well at all."

"This is a city that prides itself on having some taste and values," he added. "
And I just can't see anything about what they're doing that has any good taste at all. I was shocked and totally appalled, and I think most people in Nashville are as well."

The park's spokesman, Don Helbig, back-pedaled in a statement to FanHouse, saying the park never had such a display. But when it was informed the pictures were already online, said it was a regrettable decision and meant no disrespect to McNair.

The All-Pro quarterback was found shot four times in his Nashville apartment with Kazemi on the floor next to him. Police recovered the murder weapon under Kazemi and it was confirmed that she was the shooter. The pair had been dating although McNair was married and investigation uncovered that Kazemi was depressed about money and security in her relationship.

It's not the first and only time the theme-park has used celebrities' likeness in their display. This year, you can also see skeletons depicting the deaths of Sonny Bono, Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Ted Williams, Billy Mays and Dave Thomas.
