Raiders Steal Win Against Chiefs

NFL News - September 20th, 2009 - Written by John

raidersThe Raiders are somewhat of an anomaly at this point. In the season-opener, they dominated the line of scrimmage, controlled the ball and were much more physical than the Chargers - and lost

Sunday, they were sloppy and inconsistant - and won

After only putting together two scoring drives through the first three-and-a-half quarters, netting only six points, Oakland finally broke through with a minute left on a Darren McFadden touchdown to steal a win from the Kansas City Chiefs.

Oakland only gained 166 total yards, while the Chiefs plowed through the Raider defense. The home team had 409 total yards and had the ball for almost 41 minutes. Buth they couldn't complete drives, turning the ball over twice. Kansas City had 173 yards on the groun

It allowed the Raiders to stay in it despite a hilarious passing day by JaMarcus Russell, going 7-for-24 for 109 yards. He was bailed out by a great defense that continued to break up scoring drives. The Chiefs didn't break through until the middle of the fourth quarter, down 6-3, when Matt Cassel threw his first touchdown of the year to Dwayne Bowe on a 29-yard connection.

But the Raiders almost doubled their total offense for the day on the next drive, going 69 yards to set up McFadden's sprint to the end zone.
