NFL News - September 20th, 2009 - Written by John
Even 284 total yards by Chris Johnson wasn't able to give Tennessee their first win of the year. In a game which the Titans were favored by seven points, the Houston Texans were able to put together a late rally to blow by Tennessee, 34-31.
Kris Brown kicked the go-ahead field goal with 2:55 remaining in the game, the first time Houston led since the second quarter and only the second time all game. The Titans had a chance to rally, though, but quarterback Kerry Collins fumbled and Houston sat on the ball.
The comeback was put together with inspiring play from quarterback Matt Schaub. A week after he went 18-for-33 for 166 yards and no touchdowns, the four-year veteran aired it out for 357 yards, four scored and no picks. It was an improvement to his passer rating by 72 points. He took his team on a nine-play, 63-yard drive late in the game, converting on fourth down with a keeper, which eventually led to Brown's game-winner
Most of those yards went to All-Pro Andre Johnson, who hauled in 149 yards and two scores and had a long touchdown of 72 yards. It was enough to overcome Houston's 240 yards on the ground, compared to only 63 by Houston.
Johnson had a career-high 197 yards on the ground and became the first player since Clinton Portis in 2002 to have a receiving touchdown and rushing touchdown of over 50 yards.
