Full Tilt Poker's FTOPS XIII Under Way

Full Tilt Poker's Online Poker Series (FTOPS XIII) began Wednesday for it's 13th installment of it's poker tournament series. The FTOPS XIII will feature 25 different tournaments with a huge $16 million in tournament guarantees. The series started August 5th, and will continue all the way through August 16th. Starting today there will be at least two tournaments a day leading up to the $500 buy in Main Event which closes out the series. Each tournament will have one of Full Tilt's poker professionals hosting it. The buy ins range from as little as $120 for a few events, all the way up to a $2500 buy in for a two day event which will end on the last day of the series. Since FTOPS I, which took place back in August of 2006, the series has steadily grown in popularity among online players. FTOPS I had a total guaranteed prize pool for the series at $1,000,000, a far cry from the massive prize pool of this year's FTOPS XIII.

Last night was Event 1, which was a $200+16 buy in No Limit Hold'em event. The tournament was hosted by two time world series of poker bracelet winner Vitaly Lunkin. One great thing about the FTOPS tournament series is that it gives poker players a wide array of games to choose from. Along with multiple No Limit Hold'em events, FTOPS XIII will feature events in various games such as Limit Hold'em, Razz, Omaha, HORSE, and even Stud. Although No Limit Hold'em has become the most popular poker game played today, many players look forward to tournament series such as these where they can play other types of games. Each tourament will have big money on the line, making all 25 events highly anticipated. This year features a unique tournament which is a FTOPS first. Don Cheadle, actor and avid poker player, will be hosting the Ante up for Africa charity tournament. The event is scheduled to be held on August 15th and will feature a $100+20 buy in. The twenty dollars will be donated to the humanitarian crisis in Darfur.

With only one event being played thus far there is still plenty of tournaments coming up allowing you to take part in this year's FTOPS XIII. Full Tilt is doing something special for everybody who reaches the final table of one of the FTOPS XIII tournaments. Each player who manages to make a final table will be given a limited edition FTOPS jacket. Along with the healthy payday they each will receieve for making it so far in the tournament, the special edition jacket is a nice bonus for the players. Full Tilt will also award the individuals who are fortunate enough to win one of the events a special gold FTOPS jersey, along with a gold jersey avatar which will be displayed when playing on the site. With the insane amounts of money on the line, this could be the best FTOPS Full Tilt has ever had.
