Poker News - August 31st, 2009 - Written by Bonnie
It is that time of year again and if you haven't secured your spot in the newest edition to the World Championship Of Online Poker, you better do so now. The WCOOP is brought to you by the reputable Pokerstars. This online tournament will feature 45 events with a prize pool totaling $40 million. With so much money to give away, it sure will make for some great top place prizes.
For those of you that thought the big money events come into action at the World Series of Poker, will be surprised to know that this tournament has three high roller events, where the stakes are high, just like the prizes. September 6th will be the first of the three events with a $2 million guarantee No-Limit tournament. Followed by a $800,000 guaranteed No-Limit Match Up on September 13th. Finishing with a $1 million guaranteed H.O.R.S.E. tournament on September 20th.
Although this years version of the World Championship of Online Poker has been modified, you can still find all your favorite tournaments such as No-Limit, Razz, Pot Limit Omaha, Fixed Limit Hold em', Badugi, Omaha Hi-Lo, Fixed Limit Omaha, and the fresh new No Limit Omaha just to name a few.
Players that were lucky enough to make it through 33 events in last years World Championship of Poker, split a prize pool of $39,958,000. If that doesn't sound like enough money to go around, just ask last years main event winner "ckingusc" who walked away with a first place cash prize of $1,265,432.
Much like the World Series of Poker, the World Championship of Poker brings out all the big names in poker, such as Chris Moneymaker, Barry Greenstein and Daniel Negreanu. Seeing is how this is the World Championship of Poker, we will see players from all around the world, but will the stand a chance against our professional players from the United States? United States players have a record of 535 final table appearances and have earned over $59,472,430. This tournament will be the one to participate in, that is if you have the skills.
