Poker News - December 3rd, 2009 - Written by Glen
On December 1st, 2009, the eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance, or eCOGRA, had determined that the Cereus Poker Network meets the high standards set by their governing body.
The Cereus Poker Network was recently fined for allowing Superuser accounts to play in their poker room, which enabled certain players to peek at the hole cards of players. The controversy was wide spread and cost the poker rooms operating under the Cereus Network, managed by Tokwiro Enterprises and licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, over $2 million dollars in damages.
After extensive testing by eCOGRA, the Cereus Poker Network has received their seal of approval. The rigorous testing enacted by eCOGRA is held to the highest standards of the industry, and is designed to protect the player as well as increase overall enjoyment found through any of the Online Poker rooms or casinos listed under the eCOGRA seal of approval.
According to the report issued by eCOGRA, an on-site review of the company examined every facet of the business. Software development was the highest priority in eCOGRA's examination, and the CEREUS software has received full compliance with eCOGRA. The Generally Accepted Practices, the criteria to which Cereus had surpassed, is a set of the best of operational and management practices in the industry.
"CEREUS management’s commitment to compliance, specifically player safety, facilitated an efficient review and certification process," was spoken by Sean Roberts, Compliance Manager at the London offices of eCOGRA.
It has also been stated that the Cereus software has been confirmed to operate a safe, fair, and legitimate gaming environment. For over a year, as revealed by eCOGRA's chief executive Andrew Beveridge, the Cereus poker network's random number generator had been continuously monitored for fairness and accuracy. The monitoring had been done by eCOGRA's Total Gaming Transaction Review, which is a process that observes every draw of the cards to make sure that the deals are kept fair and sufficiently randomized.
Though Absolute Poker and UB are not the largest online poker rooms, they may see increasing popularity now that eCOGRA has approved their software.
