2009 World Series of Poker Event Updates

June 4, 2009 - Written By Bonnie

Steve Sung has been named the winner of event 4 of the 2009 WSOP, the 40th Annual World Series of Poker - No Limit Hold 'Em. Sung was able to capture his first bracelet and a cool $771,106 as a reward for what at one time was a questionable challenge. Sung came to the final table with the second highest chip count but quickly got down to a couple of short stacks of chips. He managed to climb his way back up taking some pretty large pots from at one time chip leader, Dan Heimiller. It was a victorious day for Steve Sung and he certainly has something to celebrate.

Congratulations to Jason Mercier who was named winner of event 5, Pot Limit Omaha . This 22 year old from Florida displayed his experience and skill while having a unbelievable amount of patience which kept ahead of the other competitors since day 1. With a cheering crowd all of his own, Mercier managed to dominate the final table and walk away with his first WSOP bracelet and a cash prize of $237,415.
