Whether you are a poker fan or not, its almost impossible to not be interested in all the action that is taking place in Vegas right now. The 2009 WSOP events are in play and off to a great start with some pretty impressive poker skills from some our favorite poker stars.
Vitaly Lunkin went head to head with 200 other competitors and came out on top winning event 2, the 40th Annual No Limit Hold 'Em Tournament of the 2009 WSOP, . Winning this event earned Vitaly a whopping $1, 891,012 and his second WSOP gold bracelet. Isac Haxton was not far behind Vitaly finishing in second place which earned him a prize of $1,168,566.
Event 3 showed some familiar faces among the 918 competitors at this $1,500 buy in tournament which heldĀ a prize pool of $1,253,070. Defending champion of event 3, the Omaha Hi-Low Split 8 or Better, Thang Luu showed off his poker skills and took home a cool $263,135 and his second WSOP gold bracelet. This is proving to be a year of records at the 2009 World Series of Poker and Luu is making his mark with 2 consecutive wins at the Omaha Hi-Low Split 8 or Better tournament.
With Event 4 underway, Day one definitely separated the professional players from the amateurs. The No Limit Hold 'Em had a small buy in of $1,000 and brought out over 6,011 competitors. As we enter Day 2 of this event, we are left with only 376 players returning from yesterday's start of the No Limit Hold 'Em tournament. Players will battle their way hoping to earn a spot at the final table and a portion of the $5,410,800 prize pool.
