Congratulations to Brock Parker who was named Champion of the 19th event of the 2009 WSOP, the No Limit Hold'em / Six Handed. Parker is no stranger to victory, having won his first 2009 WSOP bracelet only days before, in event 14. Parker entered this 3 day event with 1067 other opponents at a buy in of $2,500. The first two days were hours of hard play, leaving only 11 left still standing and ready to continue on day 3.
Day 3 came and went quickly for poker players, like Brain Friesen. Friesen proved that going all in against Alex Wilson might not of been the smartest move when Wilson was left holding pocket 9's. Friesen was the first to go but not far behind him was Alex Ivarsson who was also put out by pocket 9's, which Joe Searock was holding. Ivarrson still placing in 10th, would be the next to go, leaving the rest of the players to the final table.
It was nearly 3 hours into play before the first player would leave the final table. Clayton Newman went all in with pocket 2's which played no match against Jesse Rios who was sitting with pocket 10s. Newman would soon be joined by other players Alex Wilson and Jesse Rios would took just as long to be eliminated as the first ones. Russel Crane pressed his luck and challenged a hand against Joe Searock who showed no mercy sending Crane packing and creating the head to head battle against Brock Parker.
The final match up seemed to be on a long road to no where that would carry into the late hours of the night. After 3 days and long hours of play, Brock Parker would be the one to be named winner of this event, placing Joe Searock in second. Parker beat out over 1000 other opponents and pushed himself to victory in which his efforts earned him the Champion title, a cash prize of $552,745 and his second gold bracelet of the year. Not bad for a weeks worth of work!
