UK's Roland De Wolfe Makes His Place in Poker History

June 16, 2009 - Written By Bonnie

Congratulation are in order for UK's Roland De Wolfe, who has been named the champion of event 27 of the 2009 WSOP. The Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo 8 or better tournament had a buy in of $5000 which brought out 198 competitors. Wolfe, who has very little experience with Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo 8 or Better stated, "I had played Pot-Limit Omaha and Limit 08 so I just tried to mix the two together!" Wolfe, although a very skilled poker player,  admits to be the least experienced player when it comes to this event and took note from other poker players that were present such as Clements and Richey. It Appears that his strategies worked out for him in the long run. This marks the second gold bracelet winner for UK of this series. Wolfe will take home the champion title, a 2009 WSOP gold bracelet and a cash prize of $246,616.

Even more impressive than winning this event, Roland De Wolfe has now completed and won the WPT, EPT, and WSOP, what is known in the poker world as the Triple Crown. Wolfe is among only one other player to ever complete the Triple Crown. Having three major poker titles is quite an accomplishment and something that Wolfe has been waiting for, for a number of years. He has attended the finals for the past three years and after waiting all that time, he finally can add that gold bracelet to his collection of career wins. Not only has Wolfe earned the bragging rights, he has made his place in history.

Play at event 9 - No Limit Hold 'em, has proven to be too much of a challenge for a little more than 1300 players. Of the 1459 competitors, 105 remain and will return in hopes of making their way to the final table. Doug Lee sits as front runner with the largest chip count. Lets see if he can hold his place and make it to the top.

Event 10 , the Pot Limit Holdem / Omaha is set to continue with 162 remaining players out of the 445 entrants. Tune in to find out who has what it takes to make it to the final table.

Event 11, the No Limit Hold 'Em, is set to begin Thursday June 4th with a buy in of $2000.
