It seems as if the voices of poker players around the world in conjunction with the power of political representatives are being heard not only by supporters of the Internet Gambling Regulation Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act of 2009 have , but by president Obama as well. The members of the White House asked citizens to speak up and create policy proposals that would be submitted online and voted on by people all over America in what they feel should immediately be addressed by this Congress and President Obama himself. A gentleman by the name of Aaron Huertas, an online poker player from Washington, submitted a policy proposal called "Boost America's Economy With Legal Online Poker" which got support with over 46,889 points, making it 11th on the agenda and the number one technology issue. The proposed policy "Boost America's Economy With Legal Online Poker" earned a spot in the Citizen's Briefing Book and will be adressed by President Obama himself.
"Boost America's Economy With Legal Online Poker" suggests that our U.S. government restructure the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforecement Act to exclude poker is one way that we can boost our struggling economy by simply giving American players the opportunity to win money , pay taxes for their winnings and avoid sending business of such offshore. With some type of structure and policies put in place, players will have the option to decide how their leisure time is spent and the government will get some much need assistance in turning this economy around.
Due to all the support and people who voted on this important issue, poker players are one step closer to protecting a game people have grown to love.
