Poker News - November 1st, 2009 - Written by Glen
The high stakes tables are business as usual for some players, but that usual business is not always a good thing. David Benyamine, a regular at the high stakes cash tables found on Full Tilt Poker, was battered and abused by a lucky Ziigmund over the course of the night.
Benyamine, a professional player hailing from Paris, France, was seated with Ziigmund and many other professionals on October 28th, bringing nearly $2 million dollars to the table. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and it would seem Benyamine had tempted the wrath of lady luck. Benyamine has dropped almost $1.9 million dollars into the 7-Game tables so far this year, and in one night alone over $800,000 of that went the Ilari Sahamies.
Sahamies, who has been featured on Poker After Dark, played in the WSOP, and many other important tournaments around the world, is one of Full Tilt's professionals. Along with Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonious, Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Howard Lederer, and Chris "Jesus" Furgeson, Sahamies is one of the biggest names in Full Tilt Online Poker. On October 28th, the young Finnish professional broke $1 million dollars in profit over the course of the night.
Sahamies had taken down several pots worth over $150,000, mostly from Benyamine. He had also snagged over $200,000 from Phil Ivey in a heads up PLO game. Sahamies has taken down over $1.8 million dollars in profit this year alone, with most of it coming from his lucky night at the tables on October 28th.
Honorable mention goes to Tom Dwan, who walked away with over $378,000 over the course of the night, giving him third place in total online winnings for the year.
