Freddy Deeb, Shawn Cunix Lead Final Table In WPT Bellagio

Poker News - October 26th, 2009 - Written by Glen

world poker tourWith an average chip count of 2,750,000, blinds of 40,000/80,000, and an ante of 5,000 chips, the final table at the WPT Festa al Lago will undoubtedly run by quickly in the last day of the final table. Six players remain, and all but one hold over two million chips.

Freddy Deeb, two time WPT champion, is the current chip leader with 3,840,000, while Shawn Cunix glares menacingly over his stack of 3,670,000. Such equal ground keeps both players on solid footing for taking down the win, but Deeb is indubitably determined to take his third - and making a tie with the current record - WPT championship. Tommy Vedas remains a threat to the two chip leaders, as he stands with a stack of 2,990,000, making him the third and final player above the median chip count.

The lower three players, each sporting stacks under the chip average, still have a chance in this WPT tournament, though the blinds will be demolishing their stacks should they not take down a few pots.

Craig Crivello is the leader of the underdogs, just shy of the 2,750,000 average chip count by 180,000 chips. One of Crivello's last hands of the night gave him a large pot from Aaron Jones when Jones shoved with a K-8 off suit, ultimate to be crushed by the fishhooks in Crivello's pocket. Crivello hit for trips on fourth street when another jack landed, giving him the pot and sending Aaron Jones home $129,210 dollars richer.

The Jasons Burt and Lavallee both stand in the back of the chip counts, sporting a meager 1,375,000 and 2,045,000 respectively. While doubling up on a shove could drastically turn the tides for either of these men, especially if Deeb continues to steal the blinds and antes, then reveals aces in his pocket.

Many hands have failed to go beyond the blinds, and pocket pairs have proven to remain strong throughout show downs. The tournament is coming to an end, but the lucky first place winner will walk with $1,218,225 dollars, and perhaps a victory that will tie the current record in the case of Freddy Deeb, should he go on to be the big winner.

The next leg of the World Poker Tour will not be until November 5th, the Foxwoods World Poker Finals, and as always, the USA Online Poker Rooms are offering satellites to this event
