PokerStars To Sponsor The High Heels Poker Tour

Poker News - September 14th, 2009 - Written by Glen

pokerstarsMost sports have separate leagues for men and women, and poker is no different. The rapid rise in popularity amongst tournament style poker fans has pushed for an increase in female poker players. It has been stated that nearly 25% of all poker players in the public circuit are female, and since 2007, the High Heels Poker Tour has been providing women with a female only playing field. In the beginning of September of 2009, the largest online poker room, PokerStars, has signed a sponsorship with the HHPT.

With the wind of PokerStars at the HHPT's sails, more tournaments for the tour are likely to erupt. October will see several tournaments alone, with three in the first half of the month. Varying buy-ins will be collected, and some of the proceeds will go toward breast cancer research, as well as the Israeli Defense Forces. The High Heels Poker Tour is growing at an unprecedented rated, and a massive, $1,000 dollar buy-in, ladies only tournament will be held through PokerStars in January of '10.

With the help of PokerStars, the High Heels Poker Tour is beginning to spread further from the Floridian roots that the tour holds. Nevada, New York, and Florida are all going to hold tournaments for the tour. The mission in mind is to build relationships, friendships, camaraderie, competition, and wealth amongst the world's female poker players. In addition to the perks of playing with their gender, women will also find deals on lodging and travel through the HHPT.

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is set to take place in January of 2010. This will be the season's grand finale, requiring a buy-in of $1,000 dollars.

“PokerStars has all of the attributes in a online partner that female players crave: an incredible variety of quick, entertaining games that range from low buy in sit and goes and cash games to serious tournament play, all in an environment where women can learn the game, develop their skills, and truly become champions,” said Lauren Failla, founder of the High Heels Poker Tour, in a press release. “With champions like Vanessa Rousso, Katja Thater, and Vicky Coren, our players have a whole new set of role models to emulate and challenge, online and at the tables."
