Poker News - September 6th, 2009 - Written by Glen
The World Series of Poker is not limited to the Las Vegas edition, as Europe will see their own series in which the pros can participate. Beginning Thursday, September 17th, 2009, players from around the world will be meeting in London to try their hands at glory.
The first event will be a $1,000,000 dollar freeroll. This tournament will feature the top eighteen qualifiers from Betfair's poker room. This will be the first event in what promises to be an exciting series. The second day will kick off the first open event, which is a No Limit Hold 'em tournament with a £1,000 buy-in. The events run fairly normal until the "fourth" event, which takes place Friday, the 25th.
On the 25th of September, a special event will take place. The invitation only one day tournament, the Caesars Cup. Europe vs. America is the theme, and the best of both worlds will meet to test their mettle against one another, as well as one invitational online qualifier from Betfair.
The Main Event will take place on September 26th, and will be a £10,000 buy-in No limit Texas Hold 'em main event. This is the longest event, expected to run six days, and should match the WSOP's American Main Event in excitement, if not in magnitude.
The November Nine will meet once more in November, giving the WSOP Europe the spot light until two months following. Buy-ins are being accepted, and the entire event expects to see well over 1,700 players.
