After serving a 50 Game suspension, for violation of Major League Baseball's drug policy, Manny Ramirez is set to make his return tonight, against the San Diego Padres. Leading up to today, primarily over the last week and a half, Manny Ramirez has doing a "rehab" stint with Dodger affiliates, in the minor leagues.
In making his comeback, Ramirez played games for the Albuquerque Isotopes, as well as the Inland Empire franchise for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Now, the baseball World is set to see "Manny Being Manny", which has earned him a reputation as being a lovable guy.
When news came down, of Ramirez's suspension, it rocked the baseball World, just as with all of the others who have been connected with using Performance Enhancing Drugs. It seemed unlikely that Ramirez would ever be someone, who was associated with that kind of behavior, but nonetheless, here he stands after serving a 50 game suspension. Ramirez tested positive, for a fertility drug, which is known to help between steroid cycles.
In Ramirez's absence the Dodgers have not missed a beat. They currently have a commanding lead in the NL West, and are poised to make another run into the post-season. Standing at 50 and 29, the Dodgers are 7.5 games clear of the San Francisco Giants. The return of Ramirez should only help the club, providing that it isn't too much of a distraction. In 27 games, this season, Ramirez has a .348 batting average, with 32 hits, 22 runs scored, and 6 homeruns, in only 92 appearances at the plate.
