Padraig Harrington is looking to do something remarkable and win the British Open for a third straight time. He will tee off Thursday at 9:20 and will be a favorite to win because his past. Harrington said earlier this week that the seaside breeze will be a big factor in this weekend's event. Harrington has to look at a course that has a different turf than anybody has played on the tours recently.
Padraig is a confident golfer who will is always in contention in the major tournaments. He knows this year will be a lot different because Tiger did not play last year due to his recovering from knee surgery. Padraig had a Tiger-less ride to victory last year, so the return of Woods may cause trouble for Harrington. The scores during the Open are usually low, leaving players to have to grind through the weekend. Harrington can usually keep his cool and play his game. His driver will have to do most of the work as the course is longer than usual this year.
This years course is known for crazy conditions with strong winds and often rain showers coming in sideways with the wind. This year will be the 138th time the Open has taken place. The 138th Open will take place in Turnberry. Turnberry has only hosted this event three times and many golfers have never seen the course. The courses at Turnberry are known to have extremely tall grass outside the fairway, often being knee high. The course is on the Scotland's coast and gives a beautiful view, but gives strong winds that will chill to the bone. They have added 20 new bunkers and the course will play 7,200 yards. The last time the Open had taken place at Turnberry was 1994 and Nick Price was the winner.
