The 3rd round of the 2009 U.S. Open has finally come to an end at Bethpage Black and the fourth round has already begun. The horn sounded on Sunday evening just after the leader finished up his first hole with a bogie. Ricky Barnes was the leader going into the 4th round of the 2009 U.S. Open, but lost it right away after finishing up with a bogie. That moved him into into a tie for the lead at -7 with Lucas Glover who is playing with Barnes.
The last round of the U.S. Open looks to be a shootout between two golfers, but since neither one of them have much experience at winning major tournaments, there is a good chance that at least one of the will choke. Barnes and Glover have Phil Mickelson breathing down their necks at -2 as well as 3 other golfers. Mike Weir is at -1 and was the leader after his score of 64 in the first round but has stuggled since, not shooting under par in either of the following 2 rounds.
Tiger Woods has made a slight move in the 7 holes that he has played in the 4th round by shooting -1. He shot a 68 in the first round that he played on Sunday and managed to keep it going through the start of the fourth round. Tiger will be continuing his 4th round of the 2009 U.S. Open on the 8th hole where ended play after the horn sounded on Sunday night. Look for the number 1 player in the world to take all the chances he can tomarrow to get himself back in contention for the 2009 US Open.
The fourth round is already underway and is going to be starting back at 9AM on Monday morning and should last no later then 1pm EST. The 2008 U.S. Open ended on Monday as well because of the 18 hole playoff between Tiger Woods and Rocko Mediate and it looks as though this one could have the chance of ending on Tuesday if it comes down to a playoff.
