If you missed the action Monday night, then you missed a great baseball game between the LSU Tigers and the Texas Longhorns. These two teams are squaring off in a best of 3 series, to determine the NCAA Baseball National Championship. Both these teams have storied histories in the College World Series, as both teams have won the title several times.
Last night, 9 innings wasn't enough to decide the first game, as the Tigers and Longhorns went to extra innings, tied at 6 runs a piece. The game wouldn't be settled until the 11th inning, as LSU was able to push across as run, in the top half of the inning, which the Longhorns were unable to match. The 7 to 6 win gave the LSU Tigers a 1 to 0 series lead, over the Longhorns.
LSU and Texas take to the diamond again, tonight, in game 2 of the College World Series Final. Should LSU be able to win tonight, they will claim the season prize of Collegiate Baseball National Champions. Texas and Texas fans definitely don't want to see that happen, and you can be sure that they will show up in Omaha, Nebraska, to show support for their Longhorns.
It is unlikely that is series will end in 2 games, although it is a possibility. Texas skipper, Augie Garrido is a very experienced manager, and knows how to get the best out of his #1 nationally seeded Texas Longhorns. On the other hand, the Tigers smell blood, and would love to end this in 2 games, and avoid game 3 all together. Should this series advance to the 3rd game, the winner takes it all, and the loser becomes runner-up.
Coverage of the game begins tonight at 7pm EDT, in stunning high definition, on ESPN. Don't miss a pitch, because the tension is sure to be thick as the Longhorns look to avoid elimination. Should LSU win tonight, they will take home their 6th NCAA Collegiate Baseball Title.
