Rough First Round For Tiger Woods

Gambling News - June 19, 2009 - Written by Jimmy

As the first round finally concluded, for Tiger Woods, he found himself 4 shots over par, after just one round at the 2009 U.S. Open.  Play was postponed yesterday, when the rains came, and all competitors, who had actually started their first round, picked up their round where they left off, early Friday morning.

Woods, the favorite, struggled in the concluding holes of his first round, from Bethpage Black.  Coming back from the rain delay, Woods was only one shot over par, but was still in good overall position. Things would get better for Woods, as he drew back to even, but then dropped 4 shots, on the final holes, to shoot a 4 over, 74.  Woods double bogeyed the 15th hole, bogeyed the 16th, and finished 18 with another bogey.

Woods, and other players, struggled with the soggy conditions on the course. Tiger even noted that mud on his ball prevented him from making the shot, he needed. Luckily for Woods, he still has another round, to bring his score down, before they cut the field.

Currently, Mike Weir is alone in first position, at -4 through 14 holes. He is followed by David Duval, -3 and Sean O'Hair, -3 through 16. These players are all still finishing up their first round and some will be teeing it up again shortly. The second round is slated to begin at 4:30pm EST, with Tiger Woods not scheduled to tee his second round until Saturday. Players with late tee times on Thursday, typically play early Friday, the reason for extended play, for players already on the course.
