Michael Vick, estranged NFL star, was released from prison earlier this week. His release has a question in the mind of players, fans, and executives, and that question is what is the future of Michael Vick in the NFL.
Vick served 19 months for the heinous crime of organizing dog fights. He had fallen from grace, and was heavily penalized by the NFL. The Suits in the NFL have been kicking the concept back and forth, and the real question is whether or not Vick served his NFL sentencing while also imprisoned. In a league in which you can be punished for excessive showmanship, there is no telling what will happen to Vick for his offenses.
Even if Vick is allowed to continue to play, there are doubts on Vick's current condition. Having been in jail for 19 months, he may not be at the top of his game. Management in the league has a tough choice to make, and taking Vick will invariably be a gamble.
NFL executive Roger Goodell is widely regarded as a tyrant in the organization. He has yet to make a judgment on Vick, and Vick's future hangs in the balance. Further penalties and suspensions may proceed before Vick is allowed to resume his employment with the NFL.
