No. 16 BYU 2 Point Underdogs At Home Against No. 10 TCU

NFL News - October 22nd, 2009 - Written by Scott

ncaa footballIn last year's game between TCU and BYU, the Horned Frogs ended the Cougars' BCS chances in their 32- 7 win. This time around, BYU will get to a chance to play the spoiler as the Cougars host TCU in a huge Mountain West matchup. Both teams are in a three-way tie for first in the conference along with Utah. The 10th ranked Horned Frogs (6-0, 2-0) are coming off their 44-6 win over Colorado State and BYU got by San Diego State 38-28. No. 16 BYU has lost their chance at the BCS title game, but TCU can keep their team's hopes alive with a win on Saturday.

TCU will bring their explosive offense, which is averaging 33 points per game, to LaVell Edwards Stadium on Saturday night. Their running attack has been the backbone to their offense all season. They are averaging 225 yards on the ground and have four players who have rushed for over 200 yards. They are led by Joseph Turner who has 399 yards and 7 touchdowns this year. One of these four players is quarterback Andy Dalton who has gained 233 yards on the ground this season. He also has passed for 1,223 yards and 8 touchdowns.

The Horned Frogs defense has been one of the best in the country over the past few years and this year remains unchanged. They are only giving up 238 yards per game and rank 8th in the nation in rushing defense. They also are allowing only 156 yards through the air, which ranks 9th in the country, but they will be tested against BYU who is passing for 312 yards per game.

BYU has an offensive that can move the ball and put up points. They are averaging 469 yards per game and 38 points. They are led by quarterback Max Hall. Hall has passed for 2,069 yards and thrown 10 touchdowns. However, he will be tested against a tough defense and will need to cut down on his interceptions, after already throwing 10 on the season. Harvey Unga leads the Cougars rushing attack and has gained 575 yards and scored 9 touchdowns. Dennis Pitta leads their group of receivers (5 with over 200 yards receiving) and has 471 yards and 5 touchdowns. The Cougars' offense will have their hands full against a stingy TCU defense on Saturday and will need to stay away from becoming one-dimensional.

BYU's defense will be facing a very diverse offense on Saturday and TCU's speed could propose some problems. They haven't seemed to recover from giving up 54 points to Florida State early in the year and in their last 4 games against sub-par opponents, have allowed 22 points per game. They will need a strong outing if they are to get the win against TCU.

College Football Betting indicate that TCU will be favored by 2 on the road against BYU. The Cougars are 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games and 0-5 ATS in its last 5 games at home. You can find these betting lines and other sports related betting, on BetUS Sportsbook.
