Casino News - February 10th, 2010 - Written By Glen
Table games had been legalized in Pennsylvania back in early January. Constituents and legislators alike knew that it would take time to induct these games into the casinos, though anticipation is at an all time high. The first public hearing has been announced and set for Wednesday, February 24th.
The public hearing will cover the petition submitted by the operator of the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, Downs Racing, L.P. - the first operator to file an official request for table games.
In order to decide whether or not the Pocono Downs will be entitled to operate these table games, evidence, public opinion, and comment will be taken in order to determine whether or not the casino will be entitled to operate these games.
The forum is open to citizens, elected officials, and groups in the community. Whether these parties, individual or otherwise, wish to present oral reports or written testimonies, they will be entitled to do so. In order to enroll in the hearing, interested parties will have to visit the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board's website and register through a special link. All of the documents related to Mohegan Sun's petition are publicly available.
The hearing's registration will be open until the Monday prior to the meeting, February 22nd.
The petition process is required for casinos to receive table games. Applying to the Board will force a hearing, after which the Board will have sixty days to respond. The petition must include the number of games the casino wishes to operate, as well as each individual game. Furthermore, an estimated number of employees, both full and part time, must be included, as well as a description of the possible benefits from the inclusion of table games. All these requirements must be met in order to decide whether or not the Pocono Downs may operate these games.
Time is running out until on the days where Pennsylvania Online Casinos carry no competition.
