Slot Revenue Continues To Explode Through Pennsylvania Casinos

Casino News - February 3rd, 2010 - Written By Glen

gamblingWhen Pennsylvania added casinos to their state, it was doubtful that they could have projected the immense success of their gaming centers. With only slot games, Pennsylvania's casinos have managed to steal profits away from Atlantic City. January was a particularly solid month for Pennsylvania's Casinos, as it has been announced that slot revenue had a 39% increase.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board released figures over the nine slot facilities in the state. The nine casinos had collected $184,214,974 dollars combined. This is an increase over the month of January, 2009, where they had only generated $132,303,649 dollars in revenue. There were, however, only seven operating casinos in 2009.

From year to year, the overall increase in revenue was 9.6 percent.

Pennsylvania's land casino's rising revenues are comparable to that of Pennsylvania Online Casinos. Most gambling havens around the nation, especially New Jersey's Atlantic City, and, to a lesser extent, Las Vegas, have been suffering from dropping revenues. Pennsylvania's casino revenue has been increasing at much the same pace that these other gambling areas have been dropping.

According to the figures, taxes collected from these casinos were $101,291,695 dollars. This is based on a 55% tax rate on the gross revenue, and equates to roughly $3.27 million in taxes collected per day.

Other than the new casinos, all but one of the Pennsylvania casinos had shown an increase in revenue. Mount Airy Resort and Casino had dropped 15.67%.

With the creation of table games, these casinos promise to have even more revenue over all. It is expected that the table games will have massive gains on the overall amount of money drawn in. Table games are projected to be installed in the casinos before summer, with the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs expected to be amongst the first casinos to receive these games.
