Casino News - January 4th, 2010 - Written By Glen
Due to crippling shortcomings in the state budget as well as striking unemployment rates, voters had helped pass legislation in Ohio that would allow for four casinos to be built in the area. These casinos would not only help generate tax revenue for the state, but also sooth the burn that unemployment rates had left on the crippled state.
Due to these casinos, Michigan and other surrounding states had expected to see reduced revenue in their own casinos. Some of the funds to be lost in the future have already been brought back, however, as many Ohioans have been crossing the border into Michigan in order to receive training on how to be an effective dealer for the future casinos.
According to recent news releases, the ABC School of Bartending and Casino College, located in the southeastern part of Michigan, trains students in every caveat of being a casino dealer. Counting chips, dealing cards, managing the flow of the games, and much more are taught trough this school. Casino college will come to Columbus, Ohio in the near future, and a new school is set to be opened in Cleveland.
Casinos are expected to open before 2012.
Casino dealers have a highly specialized job, with many different talents required in order to maintain a smooth gaming experience for the players. As with any other job that pays with tips, speed and efficiency are necessary. Due to the high volume of cash that may be traded between the players and the casino, the ability to control this money is also essential.
For a nominal fee of $1,000 dollars, those who would aim to learn will become certified dealers. This $1,000 can be easily recouped, as it is not uncommon for a dealer at a high stakes table to receive tips worth $50 or more, provided the players are feeling benevolent. The hands-on lessons will keep all students properly informed over the casino gaming environment.
Most casinos will not employ a dealer who has not undergone a similar program or already had experienced. Thus, these schools are almost essential for those who aim to become one of the dealers in these new casinos. Thankfully, Online Casinos require no such courses.
