Casino News - January 19th, 2010 - Written By Glen
Earlier in January, legislation had been passed that would bring table games to Pennsylvania. New England is now congested with casinos, both large and small, and each state is fighting diligently for the taxes from casino gambling. Last Friday, Delaware made their next move in keeping up with the burgeoning gambling scene in Pennsylvania by watching as legislation was introduced that would allow table games in some of the gambling centers in The First State.
Blackjack, craps, roulette, and poker are possible additions to the three racinos in Delaware. This will bring the three most popular forms of gambling into one state - sports betting, poker, and casino gambling. It was once only Delaware online gambling that held each form, but the times are changing, states are desperate, and tax revenues are falling short of the budget.
Dover Downs, Delaware Park, and Harrington Raceway and Casino are the locations that may see casino gambling.
"I like slot games, but I like blackjack even more," stated Dover resident, Tiffany V.
The framework of the legislation states that 29.4% of the revenue would be given to the state, 4.5% to the horse racing industry, and 66.1% given to the racinos themselves. The Bill has, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal, 27 sponsors and co-sponsors, and could be signed into law very quickly. Estimates also show that table games could be installed as early as five months after the passing of the bill.
Table games and other forms of gambling expansion are being considered in many states. Tax revenues are down nationwide, and individual states are contemplating new ways to generate revenue. Arkansas, Kentucky, and even Georgia are all contemplating the expansion of gambling in order to recover from the recession. New Jersey is also giving consideration to the prospect of legalizing online gambling, a right they received from a hearing over the UIGEA in the higher echelon of the Judicial system. The gambling expansion may at some point allow for residents of Delaware to participate in all forms of gambling, including gaming action found at some of the Top USA Online Casinos.
