Extension Granted On Richmond Casino Deadline

Casino News - January 18th, 2010 - Written By Glen

casino meetingA week ago, the future of the Point Molate Indian Casino was unclear. While the facts are still not hammered out, the extension that the casino was looking for has been looking for had been granted. The extension pushed back the deadline by two months, giving all parties involved more time to negotiate the finer points of the issue.

A special meeting had been called on Monday night. The City Council convened and voted on the issue, giving passing the extension and granting clemency for the Guidiville Band of Pomo Indians, as well as Upstream Point Molate LLC, the two factions involved in the establishment of the resort.

The casino, which is set to cost roughly $1.2 billion, promises new jobs, new possibilities, and a new source of revenue in California. The gaming complex will tote 240,000 square feet of casino, over half of which will be gaming space. A massive hotel and conference center will also be included, as will shopping and dining opportunities.

Residents of Richmond are looking at the new construction jobs as a source of income, as do the jobs within the casino.

The changes in negotiations have thus far delayed the project, and could have caused a complete expiration of the project had the deadline not been pushed back. The two groups who claim stake to this project have already put up $15 million toward the land, and is expected to pay another $35 million upon the finalization of the deal.

The expansion of casinos in the west is no new concept, as new gambling centers have been springing up with near regularity. The CityCenter, for instance, has set Vegas off in an upward trend. The allure of the city within the city has brought many people, both gamblers and tourists, back to Vegas. Despite all of this expansion, California Online Casinos remain a strong name in the industry, as do those in Nevada.
