Casino News - March 3rd, 2010 - Written By Glen
Atlantic City has recently reported suffering revenues from snowfall, but Pennsylvania's Casinos have run unfettered by the blizzard that had been gripping New England. Pennsylvania's thriving slot machines continue to show huge gains while many state's casinos continue to slide into dire straits.
In February of 2010, the combined revenue from the Commonwealth's casinos were almost 16% higher than they were in February of 2009. the figures showed a 15.59% increase, as the nine slot casinos in Pennsylvania generated $168,279,5154, which represents an increase of over $20 million dollars over 2009's $145,579,655.
From the $168 million, Pennsylvanian citizens will end up seeing a return of $92,552,028 in tax revenue for the month of February. Most of this money plans to go to reduce property taxes, while the rest will go to civil services, roads, and community improvement projects.
As always, the Parx Casino, Harrah's Chester Casino, and Sands Casino Bethlehem were the top three earners. Despite the bigger numbers for the month on a whole, several casinos had a droop in revenue. Mount Airy Casino Resort took a 32.91% plunge, running from $15.2 million to $10.2 million. The Meadows Racetrack and Casino also suffered, dropping 22.19% from $20 million to $15 million.
The reason for the upswing? The opening of the Rivers Casino and Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem - two casinos that did not exist in February of 2010.
With table games rapidly approaching, these casinos are expected to see even higher revenues, which equates to higher tax revenue for the state of Pennsylvania. Until the table games are included, Pennsylvania Online Casinos are the only route to take for casino table games.
