Founder Of Bodog, Urges Gambling Industry To Aid Haitian Disaster Relief

Gambling News - January 18th, 2010 - Written By Glen

Calvin AyreCalvin Ayre, founder of Bodog, has recently issued a challenge to the online gambling industry on a whole. This challenge, an urge, is a beck and call to the online gambling industry to aid those who have been harmed by the earthquake that ravaged the nation of Haiti.

"It is a disaster in Haiti. I know they have had a tough go from Mother Nature recently, hurricanes and now this earth quake, but I cannot help but be disgusted with the ruling elite that his driven this country down like this while, no doubt, filling their own pockets," began Ayre in his blog. "That all said the innocents as always are paying a horrendous price for this elite thievery and I think the global online gaming community has a duty to do something."

According to Ayre himself, Calvin has requested that his foundation, the Calvin Ayre Foundation, donate 10,000 GBP to the UK Based Oxfam to Haitian reconstruction.

Oxfam is a humanitarian group that works around the world to improve impoverished societies, aid the less fortune, and help disaster stricken groups recover from harm.

The challenge issued by Ayre asks that the online gambling industry give a portion of their take to the Haitian relief fund. The Calvin Ayre Foundation will, according to Ayre himself, match any proven payment to Oxfam. Ayre is willing to match up to $1,000,000 - a striking increase over any other casino deposit bonus.

Tens of millions of US dollars have already been given to the Haitian reconstruction, but losses begin to rise. The Calvin Ayre Foundation's generosity can only come to fruition through the assistance of the rest of the Online Gambling community.
