Gambling News - January 24th, 2010 - Written By Glen
Last year the Seminole Tribe and the state of Florida had failed to reach a deal over the handling of revenue and the availability of games. Due in part to the lack of clear and substantial legislation, some of the Seminole casinos had been operating table games injudiciously. To this day, these games continue to operate, despite Florida Supreme Court ruling that found that the casinos had no legal right to initiate table gaming.
Amongst these games are those that are found in Florida Online Casinos. Blackjack and baccarat are just two of the many games available. Additionally, the slot games operate similarly to those found in VEgas.
Governor Charlie Crist had reportedly come to terms with the tribe, but last Thursday a Florida Supreme Court had decided against the compact. In their decision, the court deemed that Crist lacked the authority to broker such a deal.
In a state that funds its education system through gambling revenue, vis a vis the Florida Lottery, some have spoken out against the decision. One Tampa resident, Dan Foreman, said in a brief interview "I only go to to Seminole casino for the blackjack. If the tables shut down, I doubt I'll go anymore."
Florida legislature states that table games are illegal within the state, which is why Online Gambling sites continue to increase in popularity. Tribal casinos sometimes cross this line, however, as they are subject to federal regulation rather than that of the state in which they reside.
