Gambling News - January 26th, 2010 - Written By Glen
Over the last two weeks, the Anti-Gambling Task Force had reached a rocky outcrop. Though a scheduled raid had been blocked by a local judge and the former leader of the task force had resigned, the Task Force on Illegal Gambling has remained steadfast in their persecution of gambling operations in the state. All this occurs despite attempted legislation that would, at least temporarily, allow gambling to run unfettered within the state.
In order to recoup for their earlier losses, a new leader had been appointed. The new leader is John Tyson Jr., the Mobile County District Attorney.
Tyson has stated that he will continue to work as the district attorney, despite spearheading the task force. His leadership has gone into effect immediately. Tyson is a Democrat, a partisan colleague of Marcel Black, the Representative responsible for the conception of the legislation that would allow gambling within the state.
"I am honored to be joining the task force as commander," began Tyson during a press conference. "Much is at stake for the people of Alabama in this fight. I will see to it that Alabama's laws against illegal gambling are enforced everywhere, in every community, because no one is above the law."
The real debacle is over the bingo machines operating within the state. The governor and his task force has attested to great length that the bingo machines are too similar to slot games. This has been deemed due to the rapidity of the games, as well as the algorithms involved in determining winner and loser. Bingo is, however, legal in many parts of the state.
Tyson will take over after David Barber, former Jefferson County District Attorney, resigned after winning $2,300 dollars from a Mississippi Casino.
Just goes to show that even the government officials, should look into other forms of entertainment, such as Online Gambling.
