NFL News - January 19th, 2010 - Written by John
Regardless of what happens this weekend, the Super Bowl will see a rare match-up.
Either the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints will defy the odds as the first no. 1 seeds to meet in the league championship since 1993. Or one will fall short, paving the way for an improbable finish by either the New York Jets or Minnesota Vikings.
With four clearly deserving teams in the round of four, shuffling through the stats and deciding who will win becomes all the more difficult. But DSI Sportsbook is reducing the risk somewhat, and making the reward sweeter for bettors up until the Super Bowl, by giving a 20% sports bonus on deposits of $100 or more up until the championship.
Qualifying deposits will also incur 500 extra bet points on the site and a free entry into the $10,000 March Madness bracket contest at the end of the college basketball slate.
Bettors can use that money on any of the NFL Playoffs games coming up as stats and streaks are calculated and scrutinized.
Like in the NFC Championship, where the Vikings and Saints were the two highest-scoring teams in all of football this season and combine to make up a good bulk of the NFC Pro Bowl team. It is the first time the two scoringest teams have met in a conference championship this decade, and a stark contrast from the AFC, where the top-seeded Colts face the upstart Jets, seeded fifth and given 10/1 odds to win the conference.
It is few and far between than an NFL year goes pretty much as scripted, but top seeds Indianapolis and New Orleans are currently favored in NFL Betting Lines to reach the Super Bowl. It would be a fitting end to the 2009 NFL Season that saw conference leaders lock up 14 of the 16 playoff spots before Week 17. The Colts and Saints went toe-to-toe through the regular season and it wasn't until New Orleans fell to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15 did either of those teams lose.
Indianapolis called a truce and gave up on it's quest for a perfect season the following week against the Jets, but now those teams are in line to meet in what could be a monster showdown in Miami that would leave the Pro Bowl without it's two elected starting quarterbacks. Both Peyton Manning and Drew Brees were picked to start for their conferences in the All-Star game, but because it will be played a week before the Super Bowl, rather than after, both will be forced to pass.
A one seed has played a two seed in the Super Bowl three times this decade, and the two seed has won all three times. But few one seeds have come with this much fire power and experience behind them. The Saints and Colts nearly met in the 2007 Super Bowl, but New Orleans was frozen out by the Chicago Bears in a brutally cold road game. The Saints are at home this time, as are the Colts, leaving much to be considered when placing bets this weekend.
DSI is also offering the bonus on all reloads up until February 8th, so contact a representative, mention the bonus code SUPER and decide who will perform the best on championship weekend.
