Danica Patrick will begin her acting and stock car racing career all at the same time. CBS has announced that the female driver will appear on their crime investigation show "CSI: NY" on Feb. 13th as a competitor to a racer who dies in a suspicious explosion.
The show will revolve around a heavily-favored competitor of Patrick's character, and is blown up in Manhattan while driving a car. Investigators believe there to be tampering with the car, which causes the explosion.
Fans have been buzzing to see Patrick in a stock car event ever since she announced a temporary experiment several months ago. As a star in the IRL circuit, becoming the first female driver ever to win an event, she has been pressured into joining NASCAR for some time to expand her appeal. She signed to drive in the Nationwide Series periodically this season, and is considering driving in the opener at Daytona International Speedway three days after the episode appears.
Her actual debut will be this Saturday, but will come at a far-more subdued atmosphere of the ARCA race at Daytona.
Patrick is no stranger to television, but has never taken on an acting role in an actual show. She has been the spokeswoman for GoDaddy.com, a website domain service, for three years and has appeared in multiple commercials, including one in last year's Super Bowl.
