Sports News - February 12th, 2010 - Written By Bryan
The eleventh edition of the NextEra Energy Resources 250 in the Camping World Truck Series gets underway this week, with Todd Bodine looking for a third consecutive victory. Bodine was able to squeak past Kyle Busch by a mere 0.249 of a second to collect his 16th career series title in 2009. In doing so, Bodine became the only driver in history to win this race more than once.
Both Bodine and Busch headline the 42-car field. Busch has tabbed back-to-back runner-up finishes in his previous two CWTS starts. The two racers are the overwhelming favorites to win to begin the 2010 series.
Busch has been in the winner's circle 16 times on the circuit, with 50 top-10's. His last win in the series came at the 2009 WinStar World Casino 350. Busch leads the line of betting favorites, currently going off at 2/1, according to the NASCAR Betting Lines at Bodog sportsbook.
Bodine follows closely behind Busch. He has been established at 7/2. Bodine boasts 17 career wins on the CWTS to go along with 81 top-10 finishes. He looks for the Trifecta of three wins in a row.
Ron Hornaday sports the "best of the rest" odds, following Busch and Bodine. Hornaday has been set as a 6/1 favorite to win the first race on the 2010 circuit. In 2000, he was voted the NASCAR Busch Series most popular driver. On the CWTS, Hornaday has captured 45 wins and 177 top-10 finishes.
NASCAR has been in the headlines within the last several weeks due to certain changes in the rules for the 2010 season. They recently put into effect double file restarts for the series. This will allow for the leaders to compete against each other at the head of the race, rather than having to battle trucks which are a lap down.
The 250 mile race will commence on Friday, February 12th, at 8pm Est from Daytona International Speedway. Over an $850,000 purse will be dispersed, with the winner taking home $93,750. It will be broadcast on the SPEED Network.
