The first H.O.R.S.E. event of the 2011 World Series of Poker is event 17. This event will include Limit Hold 'em, Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better, Seven Card Razz, Seven Card stud, and Seven Card Stud Hi-Low Split 8 or Better. If you are a fan of this variant, rather these variants of poker, than you will want to consider entering this tournament. If you can afford the buy-in to this tournament, you will not be left without a way to have fun and win some cash. The structure and registration are already ready, and you can participate in this event if you want to drop the buy-in.

The first H.O.R.S.E. event is beginning on June 10th. This tournament will start off at 12 PM, and you will be able to buy into the event for just $1,500. Last year's first H.O.R.S.E. event was event 31 rather than 17, and it brought in a total of 828 players - including many professionals. The prize pool totaled out at $1,117,800, all backed by a buy-in of $1,500. This event should be equally large this year, considering the fact that it is not a popular tournament for satellites. If you enter, expect to find yourself with some chances of hitting the money bubble.

Tournament Updates
(New Updates Posted Daily During Event)

Day 1 Update - The first mixed game of the series brought out 963 players and a prizepool of $1,300,050. Only 196 players remain, including some big names. Eli Elezra is the current chip leader, with 92,100 chips to his name. Todd Brunson is still out there, as is Andrew Barber, Victor Ramden and Nick Kost. Tom Dwan, Jerry Buss, Ville Wahlbeck, Noah Boeken, John Racener, David Benyamine and Gavin Smith all fell through the way side. Eliminations will likely come quick going into day 2, as several chip stacks are under 4,000 strong. Elezra is hoping to hold onto the chip lead going into the next day, though the H.O.R.S.E. competition is always unpredictable. The top prize has been established at $289,283.

Day 2 Update - Only 3 tables, or 17 players, remain going into the third day of the WSOP's first H.O.R.S.E. tournament of the year. Though Eli Elezra came into the second day as the chip leader, his lead would not hold through the end of the day. Elezra was eliminated by Denis Ethier just 20 minutes prior to the end of the night. Todd Brunson had also been busted out about an hour before the end of the night. The field of 185 has been brought down only to 17, though some big names are still in play. Victor Ramdin, David Bach, MIchael Chow and Adam Friedman are all still in the running. A total prize of $289,283 will go to the winner, as will the WSOP Gold.

Day 3 Update - Three days of rough play brought about a winner of the first H.O.R.S.E. event, a style of play that is considered one of the more difficult. Playing five styles of poker in one tournament is never easy, as the level of expertise required to succeed is generally higher. This makes the victory by Aaron Steury one that is more fulfilling than imaginable, as this is not only his first bracelet, but it is a bracelet that comes for outplaying his opponents in five styles of play. He powered through such pros as Eli Elezra, David Bach, Victor Ramdin, and many more. Steury outplayed Michael Chow in heads up play, which lasted about a half hour between the two. Steury won the event during the Hold 'em portion of the game, and he earned $289,283 in addition to the prestige of a WSOP bracelet.
