USA Poker WSOP 2011 WSOP 2011 WSOP Event 19 Limit Hold Em Six Handed
Though a six handed hold 'em tournament has already taken place, the 19th event is another six handed hold 'em - this one, however, is a limit hold 'em tournament rather than a no limit tournament. This limit hold 'em tournament will be a 3 day event, giving ample time to watch the chip stacks fluctuate - especially considering the limits in place on the betting structure. If you prefer limit hold 'em over no limit hold 'em, this tournament could be the one where you win your bracelet. The prize pool could grow fairly large considering the buy-in of $2,500.
We have found that last year's rendition of this tournament attracted more than 800 players. With a buy-in of $2,500, the prize pool of this tournament could easily blow up beyond $1 million. Due to the popularity of Texas Hold 'em, this tournament will bring in some players. It will begin on June 11th, and it will run for three days. The six handed event should fill out fairly well, so expect high prizes in the event that you get beyond the earliest levels of the bubble.
Tournament Updates
(New Updates Posted Daily During Event)
Day 1 Update - Another six handed hold 'em event began on Saturday, with a buy-in of $2,500 building a prize pool of $805,350. A total of 354 entries came out to play, with 130 remaining in the event at the end of the first day. Tom Dwan's luck has continued to falter, as has Daniel Negreanu's. Joe Sebok, Maria Ho, Barry Greenstein and David Williams all fell short of success on the first day of this tournament. David Benyamine, Greg Mueller, and Michael Winnett were amongst those to succeed going into the second day. Samuel Golbuff was the first place chip leader, and he is tailed by Mark Gryglik. These players have 63,900 chips to Gryglik's 57,000. A total of $213,431 will go to the big winner of the event.
Day 2 Update - Going into the final day of the six handed limit hold 'em tournament we see only 12 players remaining, though day 2 had quite a few more. Many professional players had been knocked out of play. Jennifer Harman, Brandon Cantu, Ricky Fohrenbach, Terence Chan, Greg Mueller and Shawn Buchanan were all busted out of the event. Two tables will slim out throughout the third day, and Alexander Kuzmin is looking to become the second Russian to earn a bracelet in the 2011 WSOP. Kuzmin is situated at 412,500 chips, with fellow Russian Andrey Zaichenko right behind him at 315,500 chips. Matt Matros holds the low stack, with only 69,000 chips in his pile. Everyone else has at least 130,000 chips. Out of the $805,350 prize pool, the top player will earn $213,431. The 12th place winner will earn at least $11,291, so this pay day will be significant considering the buy-in of $2,500.
Day 3 Update - Darren Woods has walked away from the six handed limit hold 'em event with a whopping $213,431, but also a piece of WSOP History in his new gold bracelet. The third day arrived with twelve players, and it took a long day to drop down to the first player. It came down to Darren Woods and Kim Nguyen in heads up play, with the two going into heads up play with almost equal stacks. Nguyen had 1,500,000, while Darren Woods had 1,150,000 in chips. It took a few hours for him to take the bracelet, but Woods succeeded where 353 others had failed. The final hand came when our second place female shoved preflop, and Woods made the call. Nguyen showed Kc-2c, which far outpaced Woods's 4h-2h. A flop of Kh-4d-6s made Nguyen a strong leader, while the Js on the turn gave her an even more dominant position. When a 4c dropped on the River, Nguyen went home with a smile - as well as $131,900.
