USA Poker WSOP 2011 WSOP 2011 WSOP Event 20 No Limit Hold Em
The 20th WSOP event is yet another Texas Hold'em tournament. If you failed to win a bracelet in one of the earlier No Limit Hold 'em events, then you have yet another shot at succeeding. The buy-in of this tournament is only $1,000, so most players can participate in this event. This is one of the lowest buy-ins of any tournament, which means thousands of players should come out to take part in the event.
This upcoming event will begin on June 12th. This event will begin at 12 pm, ushering in one of the largest events of the tournament. The June 12th event will run for three days, giving players ample time to climb the ranks in the event. Since this event runs for three days time, anyone has a chance to succeed at the tables. You will definitely need some luck, but anyone with a chip and a chair should be able to succeed at this tournament. Manage your chips and you should not have too much trouble rising the ranks in the 20th event.
Tournament Updates
(New Updates Posted Daily During Event)
Day 1 Update - The first day of the 20th event, a No Limit Hold 'em tournament, has whittled a field of 3,175 down to 342. The 342 players include a number of different professional players, some of which are in a dominant position to charge to the top of the tournament. Hoyt Corkins, Shaun Deeb, Scott Montgomery, John Phan, Amnon Filippi, and Tim West. Faraz Jaka, Antonio Esfandiari, Scotty Nguyen, Eric Baldwin and Jennifer Tilly have all been eliminated. A prizepool of $2,857,500 has been built off of the more than 3,000 entrants, and the bubble will burst at the 324th player. A minimum prize of $1,914 will be won, while the top prize will be $493,091. As one of the least expensive tournaments in the bunch, event 20 was expecting to accumulate as many buy-ins as it did. The current chip leader is Douglas Lang, who holds 119,700 chips, with Justin Sloan right behind him at 99,400.
Day 2 Update - The $1,000 no limit hold 'em tournament brought out 3,175 players, but only 39 remain for third and expected final day of play. There are some big names remaining in the event at these final three tables, with two fairly popular players in first and second. Jason Somerville and Tim West hold first and second, with 749,000 chips and 677,000 chips. Lex Veldhuis is also in the running, though he is int he lower end of the chip spectrum. Stacks range from 99,000 on up. The third day of play is expected to end the event, though it may run through a fourth day if these players go through ten levels without having a winner.
Day 3 Update - Jason Somerville powered through the final 27 players in order to take a bracelet in the $1,000 no limit hold 'em event that made event 20, and he has taken away a bracelet and $493,091 for his expertise at the table. This marks his first WSOP bracelet, and it was not without effort. He had to contend with some of poker's giants throughout the early days, including Lex Veldhius, who made it to the final day, as well as Antonio Esfandiari, Faraz Jaka, Scotty Nguyen, Shaun Deeb, and Gavin Smith, big names who were eliminated on day 1 or two. Somerville had the chip lead going into the final day, and he maintained it without too much trouble. His heads up play lasted barely 8 minutes, and he eliminated Travis Atkins and Yashar almost back to back in order to win his prize and his first bracelet. Somerville was on fire all throughout the third day, and his WSOP gold is not without merit.
