USA Poker WSOP 2011 WSOP 2011 WSOP Event 26 No Limit Hold Em Six Handed
Six handed Hold 'em tournaments may be fairly rare in the World Series of Poker, but Event 26 is one of them. No limit hold 'em players will be sitting at the tables with 5 other players. Six handed tournaments make Hold 'em a totally different game when compared to a full table, as there are more cards that can be drawn. With the possibility of generally weak starting hands becoming even more powerful than a pocket pair, this tournament is likely to have some of the most exciting suck outs in the entire series.
The 26th 2011 WSOP event will require a buy-in of $2,500. Those players who wish to participate will have to enter by June 15th. The event kicks off at noon, so all players must be ready by 12 PM. The three day time limit on the event will ensure that it ends on the 17th of June. This is not the last of the 6 handed no limit hold 'em events, but this is one of the less expensive events remaining.
Tournament Updates
(New Updates Posted Daily During Event)
Day 1 Update - Tyler Cornell has jumped into the lead of the $2,500 six handed no limit hold 'em tournament. Should he manage to hold onto his lead, he will earn $689,739 and a WSOP bracelet. He has a decent lead of almost 30,000 chips over current second place winner, Jean-Robert Bellande. His lead became dominant right at the end of the night, as he earned 32,000 chips on the last hand, knocking out an unnamed player by winning with a hole of Qd-9d over Jc-9c. Of the 189 players remaining out of a field of 1,378, Lex Veldhuis, Sorel Mizzi, Joe Serock, Jason DeWitt, Men Nguyen and Hasan Habib are still in the running. Those who failed to move into the second day include Jennifer Tilly, Tom Dwan, Faraz Jaka, Phil Laak, Bertrand Grospellier, Michael Mizrachi, Erick Lindgren, Vanessa Rousso, Phil Hellmuth and Dwyte Pilgrim. The second day is going to burst the money bubble and send this down to the final three tables.
Day 2 Update - The third day of the $2,500 six handed event is ready to take place, with only 22 players remaining. Anthony Ruberto has a dominant lead over most of his adversaries, with 1,550,000 chips in his stack at the beginning of day 3. His closest competitor, Chris Moorman, holds 1,210,000 chips, which puts him right on Ruberto's heels. Some notable eliminations in the day include Jimmy Tran, Tuan Le, Jake Cody, Oliver Busquet, and David Baker. The last 22 players are guaranteed at least $20,377, while the first place prize is $689,739. The field was thinned out from 189 players, and the third day should wrap up the event.
Day 3 Update - At least one person named Kovalchuk could win a trophy of sorts this year, and it wasn't Ilya Kovalchuk. Oleksii Kovalchuk won the six handed no limit hold 'em tournament that marks event 26. The chip lead changed several times over the course of heads up play between Oleksii Kovalchuk and Ionel Anton. Oleksii raised to 150,000 from the button, and Anton moved all in for 1,500,000. Kovalchuk made a snap call and flipped over 7c-7h, while Anton showed Ac-6s. The flop drew out 9s-5h-7d, giving Kovalchuk trips and essentially ending the day for Anton. A 10h came on the turn and the 10d came on the river, ending the day for Anton, though he did earn $428,140 for his efforts.
