USA Poker WSOP 2011 WSOP 2011 WSOP Event 40 No Limit Hold Em Six Handed
Six handed events are running thin this late in the series, and Event 40 is one of the few remaining six handed events in the tournament. This is a no limit Hold 'em event, and it requires one of the larger buy-ins of the six handed events. You will probably be pit against some stiff competition if you decide to enter this event, as many professional players prefer six handed games due to the speed of play.
This event is scheduled for June 23rd. It will start at 12 PM and entitle players to try for the bracelet over a period of three days. The scheduled event should run until June 25th unless something major were to delay it. A sum of $5,000 must be paid in order to enter the event, though this should contribute to a higher prize pool than many other tournaments.
Tournament Updates
(New Updates Posted Daily During Event)
Day 1 Update - With the first day on the books, only 175 players remain going into the 2nd day. The $5,000 six handed no limit hold 'em tournament had brought out 732 players, making a prize pool worth $3,440,400. Matthew Jarvis has ended the day with 303,800 chips in his stack. Randy Dorfman is in second place with 280,000 chips, and Daniel Negreanu is right behind him at 162,200. Matt Hawrilenko, Shaun Deeb, Faraz Jaka, Nick Schulman, Phil Hellmuth, Jonathan Duhamel, Daniel Alaei, Matt Affleck, Vanessa Rousso and Michael MIzrachi are all still in the running. Dozens of notable players have been eliminated, including Jason Mercier, Frank Kassela, Eugene Katchalov, Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Phil Laak and Erick Lindgren have all been knocked out. Ten more levels of play will continue the tournament, and the 40th bracelet will be handed to the winner of this event - along side of an $808,000 prize.
Day 2 Update - At the end of the second day of the six handed no limit hold 'em event, only 20 players remain. The 172 that had returned for the second day included some of the big names in poker, but many of them have gone home. Jeff Shulman, Freddy Deeb, Vanessa Rousso, Matt Hawrilenko and many more had been sent home without cash. Shaun Deeb and Daniel Alaei had gone home as well, but they had done so int he money. The chip leader is Justin Filtz, and he holds a commanding 1 million chip lead over his second place contender. Filtz has 2,017,000 chips to Massimiliano Martinez's 1,022,000. Jonathan Duhamel and Daniel Negreanu are boths till in the running, though Negreanu's short stack of 217,000 could eliminate him fairly quickly.
Day 3 Update - Another 4th day has been forced in the No Limit hold 'em six handed event, and Matt Jarvis and Justin Filtz will return to battle for the big prize of the bracelet. Jarvis holds 8,645,000 to Flitz's 2,345,000. The third day brought some big players back to the table, including Jonathan Duhamel and Daniel Negreanu. Negreanu's bad luck ended him in 19th place, earning $24,942 for his efforts. The first place prize will bring $808,538 for his winnings, while $499,855 will go to the second place winner. The blinds may end up leaving Filtz out of the game fairly early, though he will still have a chance to come back with a few lucky shoves.
Day 4 Update - The fourth day of event 40 came down to Matt Jarvis, a member of last year's November Nine, and Justin Filtz, who came into play as a short stack. On the fifth hand of the day, Filtz sat on the button. He looked at his cards, moved all-in, and Jarvis called immediately. Filtz held Kd-9d, while Jarvis had him half covered - As-8h. The flop dropped 5h-3h-6d. The 2s came on the turn, while a 3d fell on the river. Jarvis's success would earn him his first bracelet, a bracelet he wished he had earned in the 2010 World Series of Poker, where he had a legendary bout with Michael Mizrachi.
