USA Poker WSOP 2011 WSOP 2011 WSOP Event 41 Limit Hold Em Shootout
Shootout tournaments are in short supply, but Event 41 of the 2011 WSOP is just that - a limit hold 'em shootout that will bring players to the table to participate. Unlike the other shootout tournaments, however, this tournament has no cap on how many entrants may join. This could make it the largest of the shoot out tournaments in the series, bringing big prizes - and a highly coveted bracelet - to the winner of the event.
The shoot out tournament will begin on June 24th, which will invite any willing to participate. Backed by a relatively low buy-in of only $1,500, this tournament could end up growing into one of the largest shootouts. We have found that the tournament is expected to run a total of three days, with a proposed end of June 26th. This is the first event of the day, so it will begin around noon, 12 PM.
Tournament Updates
(New Updates Posted Daily During Event)
Day 1 Update - The limit hold 'em shoot out managed to attract 538 players in the event, but this number has been slimmed down significantly. Only 60 remain going into the ten six-handed tables. Though the field was stacked with big names, many failed to proceed into the second day. Tom Dwan has fallen short again, as has Sorel Mizzi, Jason Mercier, Barry Greenstein, Greg Mueller, Todd Brunson, David Benyamine and Lex Veldhuis. Those who did make it to the second day include Hoyt Corkins, Eugene Katchalov and several more. The final table will be established on the second day, and the third day should close out the event.
Day 2 Update - The second day of the limit hold 'em shoot out has narrowed down the event to only one table, where all players will come back with even chip stacks to run for the bracelet. Eugene Katchalov, Dom Denotaristefani, Mathieu Jacqmin, Jordan Rich, Stephen Bass, Christopher Kwon, Justin Pechie, Dale Eberle, Adam Tyburski and Ari Engel will return to the table to participate and work for their bracelet. Several major eliminations took place, including Hoyt Corkins, Victor Ramdin, and Brock Parker. Alex Katchalov is working toward earning his second bracelet, and he will have a fair shot to do so. From here on everyone will earn $10,378 or more, with $167,060 going to the winner.
Day 3 Update - The limit hold 'em shoot out had reconvened for the final table to participate. The final table started with Eugene Katchalov hopeful to earn his second bracelet, though he had nine other players to power through in the sit and go style of play. Katchalov was lucky, but only lucky enough to earn $50,993 for his efforts. Ari Engel was the first player to be knocked out during the day, with $10,378 going into his bank account. Christoph Kwon and Dom Denotaristefani were 9th and 8th, and Adam Tyburski was eliminated after them. Stephen Bass took 6th, with Jordan Rich having earned 5th place. With Katchalov next to go, the final three was set at Dale Eberle, Justin Pechie, and Mathieu Jacqmin. Heads up came down to Pechie and Eberle, where Pechie would ultimately take down the tournament. Eberle had run low on chips, and he ultimately went all in. Pechie flipped Ks-4h, with Eberle showing Qh-Jh. The flop dropped Kh-Ad-3d, with a turn and river of 5d-7s. This gave Pechie the win, a bracelet, and a $167,060 prize pool.
